This is Yeager on a relentless marketing campaign of “rah-rah me”, backed by sycophantic cheerleaders, page after tedious page. He blows his own trumpet louder than Trump himself even could, endlessly claiming that no one else on earth could have done what he did (over and over again – uurgh!) – conveniently ignoring the aircraft’s design and engineering that made breaking the sound barrier possible in the first place. Utterly disappointing, painfully self-indulgent, and not a book I would ever recommend to anyone.
