The MC is a pathetic emotional mess. His mistrustful “lone wolf” act in the first 2 books comes off as more charming, like a rebel down on his luck. Now with zero confidants, comrades and character arcs well into book 3, the MC just comes off as a total dick. He goes out of his way to antagonize everyone he meets, and yet he’s acutely sensitive to anyone rude to him. The hypocrisy is infuriating!!
