It is a standard power fantasy but the plot isn’t solely reliant on the MC’s progression and it maintains a degree of mystery without feeling like it stifled the story.
Some of the back and forth time jumps were a bit annoying, they supplied background info with reasonable delays. I am looking forward to book 2.
