I’ve never loved this series, but it’s always been good enough to convince me to buy the next book. There are problems, not least of which is that the protagonist is pretty bland, but there’s enough entertainment to be found in other characters to make up for what Anthony lacks. Jeff Hays still screeches too much, but he’s been doing that throughout the series so if it hasn’t put you off before it won’t be a dealbreaker now
