It feels like the author is so focused on political correctness and including their personal sexual fantasies in the story that they forget the actual story they are trying to tell. I enjoy the story when it is not focusing on elements that add absolutely nothing to the story, like a perverse take on relationships and sexual exploits (ie: man with girlfriend having sex with dragon in human form and a catwoman and girlfriend is completely fine with it), these books are listed as fantasy, but include so much sex/sexual innuendo that they should be listed as romance/lgbtq+.
