The book doesn’t need what happens in chapter 7. Dark dark black is what I was looking for but death porn, explicit description of sexual torture and death is not ok.
If you want to listen to this book, please skip the last half of chapter 7. I love dark dark but death porn is where I draw the line.
There is absolutely NO reason for that part to be there. It gives nothing to the story that couldn’t have been given in a less death pornographic way. IT’S NOT EVEN IMPORTANT FOR THE STORY!!!!
This is not about triggers. This is about using a dead woman’s body, specifically explaining how she was r@ped and tortured for a week before she died.
It’s called death porn. It’s common in some types of crime books and is disgusting. Someone should have edited this out.
I get it. She needs to be scared. But this is a level I’ve not seen even in dark true crime.
The story in itself is of course somewhat ridiculous but that’s ok because that’s what we are looking for, right? I mean, a silly but dark enemies to not exactly lovers but enemy sex-friends(?) is what we’re looking for here. . The only reason I give this book a 1 star is because of the second half of chapter 7
I love me some dark black romance but if you want to listen, report that chapter and move on. The rest of the book is the kind of dark that is great and we all want. Non con. Dub con. It’s all what we’re signing up for but at some point it’s not ok to do this to women’s bodies. Especially when it could have been described completely differently and made the story better.
