I wish I’d read the print version of this. I think this particular narrator is very much an acquired taste (some reviewers seem to love him) and I did not acquire it. It really took me out of the story and I didn’t connect with the characters the way I hoped. He narrates a few other books I had on my wish list and I promptly went and removed them.
Ultimately, this is an okay book. It brings a unique perspective to familiar tropes, but it just felt overall a bit lacking for me.
With that said, I’m glad other reviewers really enjoyed it and I’d never discourage anyone from giving it a shot. My criticisms are purely based personal taste.
