While it may not feature sound effects or heavily altered voices, don’t mistake this series as not worth your time. It is an engaging, interesting idea with a story that nicely spans four books. Even though there is a lot of repetition, it never feels stale or old. In fact, repetition is the very thing that brings familiarity and keeps you questioning what is to come. The characters are fun to follow and grow as much as the game within their world. The use of VR and real-world POVs helps to keep the reader informed and does so organically. Overall, I would say that the performance and story are worth your time and this series will be one I recommend to those interested in either dipping their toe into or just looking for another series to read within the LitRPG genre.
