This final installment of the Wildfire series would have been perfect if Lucy Rivers had narrated it. Charlie Wood did her best, I’m sure, but fell far short of the mark. If I had not heard the other five books with Ms. Rivers, it probably would have been all right. But after enjoying her wonderfully varied character vocals, Charlie was disappointing. Edith sounded like a sex worker, Rory’s accent was horrible, Joe sounded flat and Saren sounded like a computer. The only characters she did halfway decent was Buck, Blaise and Zephyr. It just wasn’t as excellent and it took away from a wonderful story. Having said that, the story itself was perfect. It was a Beautiful ending and I sincerely hope there is another series in the works, giving the final events. No spoilers, but I’m looking forward to more with Lucy Rivers narrating.
