This adventure of Carl and Princess Donut is as entertaining as ever. The only reason I am giving this story four stars instead of five is that there were at least three different moments where I was almost too overwhelmed with the heaviness and I debated if I could continue the story. My trust in Matt Dinneman was not taken for granted and I’m glad I continued. Nonetheless, if so we’re reading this a few months later during the dark and cold Winter in Wisconsin, it might have been a bit too much of a downer for me. Let me repeat that I am SO GLAD I continued because, as always, Carl’s determination and Donut’s confidence end the story on a high note. This ending is one of bravery and resilience and cleverness. It’s one of optimism and fire in the face of overwhelming odds.
