overall, the story was fine but there were a couple of weird things that the author decided to push really hard that kind of left a sour taste in my mouth. first of all was Lucas being completely inconsistent. the author does a good job of explaining why he acts the way he does, but with the introduction of Lilith, it feels like Lucas is just being pushed around with no real Direction, being controlled for a greater purpose. it just doesn’t really fit. but more than that, is actually an issue with bonnie.
as one of the generations who grew up with the lie that you have to go to college or you can’t get a decent paying job I will never forgive how badly my life got fucked over because of that. so the fact that Lucas pushes so hard against Bonnie for that just feels really really weird. like poor girl ran away from her completely controlling parents because they were forcing her to micromanage every second of every day, only to be told by somebody she trusted that he wouldn’t allow her to continue with the group anymore unless she submitted to her parents will just sat really poorly with me.
