The author does a wonderful job of evoking the environment and community Alaskan seafarers and the Coast Guard that rescues them. The first half of the book covers multiple “routine” rescues, which at the time I thought could have been edited out but by the end I realized were necessary for the context, personalities and experiences of the historic event described in the second half. Easy to follow while driving, kept my interest, and played well at 1.2 speed so I could finish it before I arrived at my destination.
