Let’s start with the positive: The main character is likeable, and smart rather than just being the stereotypical big, tough, cool guy. The first book moves at a good pace, has good action scenes, and some good chuckles. Now on to the less positive. First off, the women characters are terribly written. They are dumb and contribute almost nothing to the story. The only information we get about them is they are beautiful and fall madly in love with the men folk. I guess that’s all that’s important. No reason to be intelligent, hardworking, or skilled in a post-apocalyptic world, right? I had hoped that as the series continued there would be some character development, but no, the idiocy continues. Then there is the story in general. I was sold on this series because the descriptions and reviews made it sound like a laugh out loud silly humor kind of ride. While there are humorous moments, there’s a lot of useless meandering that ultimately devolves into an overwhelming amount of social commentary. The humor gets lost, and you find yourself in an uninspiring heap of satire. I wont be continuing with the series.
