Absolutely painful. I pick a lot of books based on narrators who have a great track record but this? The MC is an absolute pansy with everything despite his supposed amazing rep. The child? She made me want to stop multiple times. She’s annoying as hell and the mc just keeps indulging her crap rather than telling her to shut up because he’s busy trying to save her dad. Worse? He’s such a pansy that he lets her pick and chose whatever the hell she wants to do despite it making far more difficult for him to solve a murder and again…SAVE HER DAD. The child needs to be slapped upside the head one good time so she stops being an annoying c*nt to the only person in the world trying to help her. She is constantly making things harder for him. The fact that he didn’t abandon her and continue without her is beyond anything. He could have solved the problem in less than half the time
