the only interesting character I the book is the mimic. all of the dialogue is awkwar two emotionally driven irrational. the world building though detailed lacks creativityand the magic system seems both nonsensical in some ways and also feels slapdash.
I also feel like the narrator is way too inflective with most of the dialogue which detracts from the already poorly written narration.
