The characters are one dimensional and the story barely exists. Where the story and character development should have been are long expositions about firearms from an author who clearly knows almost nothing about firearms but is trying to sound like an expert to those who know even less. Striker-fired pistols suddenly have hammers and safety levers that disengage themselves; A special forces veteran picks arguably the lowest quality AR clone ever made as his go to defensive carbine; shotguns have such a wide pattern you barely have to aim but are deadly to humans dozens of yards away with bird shot; 1000 rounds and a dozen magazines are a huge stockpile rather than the load out for a.two day basic carbine class.
The author claims to be a veteran who spends a lot of time at the shooting range. After listening to the books I don’t believe either of those claims.
I don’t believe the 5 star reviews are real either. Apparently a pack of bot reviews is an option when someone pays to self produce an audiobook on this platform
