This book focuses on too many journalists subjected to the Pegasus technology. It is not a book for learning how the technology was developed or detected. To be fair, the parent company responsible for Pegaus is discussed as is the means of spreading the technology (Apple was a victim and detected the spyware discovering its persistence to re-install itself). But too much of the book is descriptive fiction to color discussions and create character background to the journalists’ lives. This is how the story of Pegasus is told in this book, as a background in the lives of targeted journalists. If you don’t know this aspect of investigative journalism then this book is good for that. Otherwise I don’t recommend it as a deep investigation into spyware.
