I almost never write reviews but feel compelled to write something about this book because I am so disappointed with it. I was eager to read or listen to it since the premise seemed interesting and it was described as one of the best books of 2025. To me, it feels both pretentious and clichéd. The protagonist’s life is similar to mine – we even went to the same law school – but I find her completely unrelatable. I don’t think a book needs to be realistic, but it should feel authentic. Nothing about this book feels authentic. Perhaps it would be better if I read it instead of listening to it, since I also didn’t like the narrator.
