Trouble brews again in the magic world and the Beacon Hill gang must fight another battle in the march towards the expected final war. This series is always at its best when centering Angel and Simeon and this action-packed book returns them back to the fore, as they were in the excellent books 1 through 3. The sheer number of introduced characters now necessitate different chapters from different characters’ POV, but it works well. Angel’s need to protect those in his care continues to be the series’ moral center. The young dragon’s growth spurt traumas are priceless.
