This book is a masterpiece of storytelling. The unfolding of the family saga through letters was innovative and effective. Evan’s character development and slow unfolding of this complicated emotional family story is just exceptional. The narration with so many voices was perfectly cast and lent so much to the deeply realistic and personal feel to this audio book. So many emotions are evoked in this story- really encapsulates so many bits of joy and absolute grief and devastation that living life entails. I was truly riveted. Best book I have “read” in a long time, and most authentic and intricate audio book performance with so many people truly acting out the different characters with such great feeling and raw emotion that the listener is truly transported into the saga. Really sets a high bar not only for the story and author’s writing ability but in performance and production value.
