I was looking for free urban fantasy as I am out of credits and this audiobook (AB) came up during my search with overall good reviews. I wasn’t as satisfied as most reviewers. Why? Also, if you want to hear a awesome narrator/performer and some of the best urban fantasy then check out the Alex Verus series and narrator Gildart Jackson (a superstar of audiobooks in my opinion).
1) The AB takes forever to introduce magic into the story and doesn’t properly introduce listeners to the new universe, characters, etc.
2) The narrator is overall flat and characters/voices all kind of blended together for me.
3) The story takes forever to get interesting and by the time it does is anticlimactic.
If I was given the opportunity to listen for free (Audible Plus member, or for a review) I would be willing to listen to the second in the series. Otherwise, I would rather listen to another free AB then to another in this series.
