Maverick is the grumpy, unapproachable and hard to get along with, but these are all defense mechanisms after trauma. His only goal is the play football and isn’t interested in getting to know anyone. The team owner sees something in him other than trouble, so he hires Everleigh to “babysit” Mav while she reforms his image. Everleigh moves to Vegas to take on a mystery client who she hopes isn’t a football player, but he ends up not only being a quarterback but her brother’s teammate. I really enjoyed this audiobook and how in the end it comes down to choosing each other. Any book that deals with Alzheimer’s touches me on a different level because of personal experience so I enjoy seeing that as it can bring awareness for those who haven’t dealt with it.
