An intriguing literary technique, letter writing tells the story of Sybil, an aging woman who is going blind. As her eyesight worsens, we read her history through her personal correspondence. At the end, she has an awareness, a deep insight into her life’s meaning. Quite the opposite of going blind, Sybil sees herself. Themes of shadow work, motherhood, career choices, grief, mental illness and homosexuality surface in this story. A really good story!!
