I had read this story before but listening to it now brought back all the reasons this is a very good novella for Christmas.
Peggy Henderson can really write a wonderful and beautiful story. I love the Teton series and her Yellowstone series and this brings characters from both back together of a joyous time of year. Lucas is s rascal or he was but now he is so in love with his wife Tori who is about to deliver their first child. This is based in the early 1800’s in the time of rugged men and women who lived in the rugged and early times of the Teton and Yellowstone areas what we now know as the National parks.
Of course there is so much going on in Peggy’s stories and this one is no exception.
Men who love their wives so much to bring them happiness and in this case a Christmas tree. But they had to go out in very deep snow to chop one down. All kinds of things can happen in deep snow where you can’t see the dangers.
You have to listen to this story and maybe read it as well either with the audible or by itself.
I liked this narrator as well and he did a good job in changing voices of women and men and he did the characters very well.
I highly recommend this audible and the book. I recommend any of Peggy’s stories and this is a good short story for the holidays even if you aren’t familiar with the characters from the stories. It will give you the taste to go back and read her stories in both series as the characters are so good you will want to read all the books.
