This is my first litRPG book (ever!), and I understand why the series is so popular! Characters so improbably conceived and off the wall as to make one feel like you’re in a fever dream, and yet each one is flesh out and beyond memorable! If I had been part of the Dungeon Carl universe from book one I would’ve found this book far more entertaining, but it was so dense with references to things that came before, that I kept having to break my journey to put some things in context. Happily, Jeff Hayes killed it! So where I would have lost interest, his vibrant, varied, (yes, I’m about to do it😂) rendering of the multitude of characters kept me engaged, and where I could have easily been lost, his narration provided a vivid framework to help keep me on track! I will read the other books in the series, but it would have been nice if it hadn’t been a prerequisite for being able to get the most out of this exceptional book.😁
