Most of the male leads are annoyingly conceited and all of them are really dumb. You would think that these aliens would know how to deal with humans better since they have other alien species that visit their world often enough. In one or two of the books they talk about some of the species that visit and seem pretty knowledgeable of how hey are as a species and how to trade and talk with them. But when it comes to interacting with humans, they become cavemen with no skill in interacting with people. It’s such a weird discrepancy. They even have some of the male leads gripe about how primitive humans are and that they don’t even know about aliens and humans as a species are basically self centered children. When they’re literally there to kidnap women.
Also, the villain did all this underhanded stuff, just to flub it at the end and have all his followers turn against him because of how dumb he is.
It’s just not good.
