Sybil is not infuriating and worthy if compassion. Her inability to be open to people but at the same time longing to connect is reflected in her letter writing. We see her life enfolds itself through her letters and we grow compassion for her. Not a breathless page turner but slices of an “ordinary”
life that we can all relate to in that everyone bears their own cross and keeps horrific secrets.
