Story was a blast and the narrator was fantastic

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I ordered this one. I knew nothing about the series; a friend had recommended it. The story was a total blast. Good pacing and extremely creative. Sure, there were some ideas that might’ve been subtly incorporated from different movie and video game franchises, but it never felt derivative. To the contrary, it always felt fresh and highly creative.

Kudos to the author for being such an astute observer of gamer culture. He threaded the needle of adding just enough detail to create the feel of an authentic, immersive RPG experience without being weighted down by excessive detail or technical jargon.

Finally, special shout out to the narrator. The guy is fantastic. Probably the best I’ve come across anywhere. The different voices were great. His female voices were impressive and believable.

If you’re looking for a fun, breezy story with great pacing and a terrific narrator, congratulations because you just found your next audiobook.
