The overall story line is ok, at best. The writing is elementary. i keep waiting for the son to say “golly gee dad” or “that’s swell”. The story hits all the cliches, go bags, special opps military dad, living off grid with like 30 guns. There is no reason for them not survive. Nothing is stacked against them. And the teen female in the story has only 1 purpose… to be a crush for the boy. She adds NOTHING to the story. She’s not useful or intelligent. She’s repeatedly a damsal in distress.
