My favorite book on the Civil War, hands down! People talk about how big and long this book is and complain! SMH! That’s part of the sheer joy of this book! It’s a marathon and not a sprint! So what if it takes a little longer to read, what are you reading it for in the first place but to learn and enjoy!
Take your time, savor it and take it all in slowly! IT’S GREAT! From the minute battle details, to the many, many small individual stories that Scott tells, it never gets old!
I have listened and followed along with the hardcover TWICE as well as followed along with the maps of Antietam book as I went, and I am going to come back to it and read it again! An Absolutely EPIC account of the battle of Antietam and nobody ever need try to write another on the topic!
