I was interested in the crossover between rom-coms and slasher. However, I found that they really don’t go together. First, I had to suspend an enormous amount of disbelief because to make this book work, a whole lot of reality had to go by the wayside. So much of the plot and character development was silly, formulaic (which was part of the point of the book), and nonsensical. For example, when someone is in the middle of a murder spree by an unknown assailant, you don’t get horny and check out people around you. Of course, since that happens in rom-coms and plenty of slasher movies, the MC spent half her time in a horny fog and the other half terrified out of her mind. Second, I thought of so many ways to get out of the situation they were in that seemed truly obvious. Thus, I kept thinking the MCs were dumb, which annoyed me. Finally, the bad guy was obvious from almost the beginning of the book along with the surprise (not a surprise at all) twist. It was an okay read, except I expected intelligent characters and a less formulaic plot.
