This series quickly shot to one of my top favorites. in a time where I needed both hope and laughs, Matt D and Jeff H. gave both. Carl’s and Donught’s journey through the dungeon gives me courage like Frodo and Sam but are constantly cracking me up. Nerd references abound, hilarious events that will have you having to pause the book to stop laughing.
During my second listen-through I was overcome with emotions multiple times.
Jeff’s narration is unparalleled: each character, even the quick NPCs feel unique but real.
I could go on but I’ll just say this: thank you Matt and Jeff as you brought me both the escapism of a very fun entertainment and at the same time, you gave me a story to rally me through tough times, and heroes to inspire me to keep going no matter how tough things get.
