This book is pure chaos and I loved every second of it. It is completely adrenaline fueled and I honestly could not put it down. I kept saying “one more chapter” and suddenly it was way too late and I had no regrets, and now im pretty sure this is what addiction is? This floor just feels meaner in a every deliberate way. The dungeon is not just throwing random nonsense at Carl anymore. It feels targeted, almost personal, and the pressure never really lets up. You can feel how much everything is wearing on him, which made the big moments land harder for me. He still tries to find the loopholes and clever angles, but somehow it always turns into the loudest, most overcomplicated Carl solution possible.
The boss fights are absolutely insane in this one. They are chaotic and strategic at the same time, and I love that they require actual planning instead of just brute force. Even when things go sideways, it feels earned instead of convenient. I was on the fence about Katia leaving the main party but I was pleasantly surprised by how she formed a new team to hunt down Eva. Samantha has really grown on me. I did not expect to like her as much as I do, but I am loving the levity she brings when things get dark. The constant “get a hold of your cat” moments from the other crawlers will never stop being funny to me. Princess Donut is still completely magnificent in her regality, and her feud with the Mongolian crawler who keeps outshining her is exactly the kind of petty drama I live for. And honestly, poor Pony Boy! The team dynamic feels stronger and more natural here. The banter hits, the emotional beats hit, and the stakes feel real without losing that ridiculous, over the top tone that makes this series special. This one just worked for me on every level.
