The story, while familiar from other books I’ve listened to, was different in using a young and on point protagonist. Grace is confident but also human and knows the price of the things she has to do to survive. She is smart but does not come across as a know it all. Her family reflects some of those same qualities except for her father who can let his mouth overrun his brain until people around him point out where he falters. His response to those situations is appropriate and has shown that he can course correct when needed.

These books are a great entry into the Franklin Horton section of your digital bookshelf. Mr. Horton has shown that his resources for research into these types of events is well done but he does not seem to embellish beyond what the real world would allow. That makes his books very enjoyable and also very believable. I do not know if Mr. Horton subscribes to the way of living that he portrays in his books but it isn’t beyond reason that he totally could. I imagine that he would do well if the SHTF and that his research serves as a good learning experience in the likelihood that one of these events does take place.

Thank you Franklin Horton!
