This books definitely needs readers to review TW ⚠️ because there is a lot of heavy and serious stuff discussed between the MMCs. One MMC faces extreme trauma, anxiety, PTSD, and a variety of issues after an horrible attack (off the pages, discussed at length throughout the book). One MMC is a criminal lawyer who’s first real case is to defend someone of SA (events of the assault off page, lawyer talks about emotional struggle having to defend his clinent and poke holes in the victims story). There is also discussion of animal abuse a rescue cat went through (off the pages) before being rescued.
Despite the intense nature of this book, it still finds ways to be funny. There is dark humor, self deprecating humor, flirty humor, good old fashioned funny humor, funny situations, and hilarious moments involving a cat. This adds levity to intense moments. The cat also serves as mirror for the emotional growth the MMCs experience together and individually. The writing is good. The voice acting is mostly good. The balance of humor for such heavy topics is done well.
