The science of the book was worth a listen. The idea of time moving back and forth was intriguing. However, the dialog and action sequences were odd. For the first few chapters, I thought Max was on the spectrum. Later on I realized that the conversation were just stilted and stiff. No one felt like they cared about other people. The action scenes with Elizabeth and Shenia were just bad. The characters just knew how to do things that there was no way that they would know. Plot armor was way to strong. They would have died so many times. I agree with the other poster that a good editor could have fixed this story and made it great.
