I normally love this genre and especially the narrator Kevin Pierce, BUT all the gory graphic detail about killing made me sick. I only enjoyed the descriptions of how to survive and the interpersonal relationships. I’m from Oregon and was sorry that the writer didn’t go beyond mentioning I-5 and a few city names. Seems like he’s never been to Oregon and he didn’t bother to research. The political themes were obvious and I only hope that other readers take this for the fiction it is. It helps me understand other points of view and certainly have insights into the PTSD soldiers suffer. Bottomline is the violence is overwhelming and a big turn off. It was not entertaining.
