This is an amazing standalone LitRPG sci-fi novel!

On the colony planet of New Sonora, farmer Oliver is having a tough morning after getting drunk and breaking up with his girlfriend. Things get even worse when he finds mechs in his yard trying to murder everyone on the planet. Oliver, his sister Lulu, best friend Sam, girlfriend Rosita, and the hive queen robot Rodger Rodger must band together with the rest of their town as Earth enters them into the ‘Operation Bounce House’ game. Earth-based streamers purchase mechs to rid the planet of “terrorists,” a.k.a. the innocent farmers and settlers.

I loved this book. Travis Baldree and Jeff Hays’ audio narration is phenomenal. The story was engaging and wasn’t heavy on the LitRPG elements until building toward the end, so I never felt lost or out of my depth with the mechanics. There were some serious allusions to current events and a lot of commentary on AI and its dangers, but also in a way its benefits. I think if you like political books you would enjoy the message, and if that’s not your thing it’s still just a fun ride. The humor was spot on while also having serious and heartbreaking moments.

Dinniman knocked it out of the park once again. This story wrapped up nicely while still leaving the door open for more in this universe. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next!
