It was written ok and the story was interesting. Some very stupid behaviours and decisions mainly by the main character and her mother. Maddie is quite full of herself. She acts like her okayisch skillset is more important for a community in a wshtf szenario than that of a practicing dentist which is insane and a gross overvaluation of her own importance to say the least. On the other hand perhaps it was a good and realistic depiction of someone her age with her upbringing. Her mother drove me nuts with her constant questions that are nothing more than a repetition the last thing somebody said to her and phrase it as a question. It’s maddening having somebody parroting everything you say. Character development was not the strongest point in the book Even in book three I had very little connection to the different characters. You could have just randomly taken one out without a noteworthy impact on the story.
