This was dnf at 38%. I tried to hang in there but finally decided to declare defeat. Both the story and narration were barely mediocre. The language was stuffy and cold; the pace was insufferably slow, and the characters were completely unlikable.
It is unusual for me to give a dnf a numerical rating, wanting to share in the blame for not finishing, but at 38% I feel I really gave this one a solid try, and it came in at barely above miserable. I truly don’t understand the high book ratings and the even higher audiobook ratings.
