This is the book I think where Carl finally is coming into his own and isn’t constantly on the back foot anymore. Watching his transformation and determination to take control of his life even when faced with the reality of forces and institutions beyond his control and being trapped in a game that’s rigged against him from every possible angle, and still somehow he manages to either survive and even sometimes come out ahead. It gives hope in these dark times we live in.
