At first, listening to this story of a retired woman as she aged, I was listening to someone else’s life. By the end, I heard so many echoes of my own in the relationships with family and friends, exes and former bosses, and the inner workings of her head and misgivings of her soul. The face the main character showed to others eventually became her essence, as happens to all of us. It also took me back to when I wrote and received letters (which I kept) and did my best to spin good yarns. I thoroughly enjoyed this compelling story.
