This one didn’t grip me as quickly as Jahquel J’s other books, especially with all the series I’ve read before which pulled me in much earlier on.

The narration also didn’t feel like the best fit for this book. The female voices sounded quite similar at times, making it hard to distinguish between characters, and the male narration didn’t fully match the tone for me. This made it a bit harder to stay engaged and follow the storyline.

I think narrators like Jamal Roque & Katherine Dollison (from Confessions of a Hustla’s Housekeeper, which I absolutely loved the storyline and everything about that book) would have suited this better.

I’ll still finish the audiobook and see how it develops, as I’ve enjoyed all of Jahquel J’s other work, and I’m a big fan of hers.
