Most mafia stories lean into the trope of submissive, helpless heroines. This series pushes the genre into bold, uncharted territory, where the women are just as damned, murderous, dangerous, savage, blood thirsty, ruthless, and morally complex as the men. I almost wish I hadn’t listened to it yet, just so I could experience the thrill of discovering it all over again.
