I had to DNF even though my expectations were already low. I wasn’t looking for crazy world building or plot just a fun romance. But this wasn’t fun. This book feels like it was written by a teenager who was taken advantage of by an older man and concocted a love story to explain his behavior towards her.

First off the age gap when they first met is sadly very realistic. A 25 year old man going for an 18 year old he was tutoring—it definitely happens and it’s NOT romantic. Him not taking her seriously and leaving her once he’d had his fun is also realistic. But coming back 12 years later because she was always the one for him? Unrealistic. The setup of this business was also very strange to me since I work in upper management at my company it was hard to take the character’s behavior seriously. The FMC absolutely behaves like a teenager who has never worked an office job, she’s very dramatic and overreacts over every little thing and the MMC is just…doesn’t feel like a coherent character. His actions kinda just serve to bring highs and lows to the story he doesn’t feel like an actual person just a series of actions and dialogue designed to illicit reactions. I really tried to get through this and finish it but when the new contractor woman came in and the FMC was being such a pick me about the situation I just couldn’t read anymore. I wish I had something nice to say. The performer was really good, probably the only reason I made it this far
