It was an interesting premise, that was terribly executed. I don’t know if this was written with ai, or ran through an ai filter, but the writing and story telling were very bad. The MC is a Mary Sue, the story contradicts itself constantly, every single thing is waaaaay over explained, like the author had a thesaurus and wanted to make sure they used every possible adjective to describe each individual thing over and over. The women in the story are grossly objectified and the relationships are creepy and awkwardly written. Every battle and situation is like “but wait, there’s more!” and then deus ex machina plot armored victory, and every simple thing the MC does, you guessed it… everybody claps, seriously. I rage listened for a while, and then by chapter 84, started listen to the first few sentences of the chapter, skipping to the last minute or so, and never once missed plot or anything else interesting, as whatever was happening before was still happening and just being described in a different way for the 47th time. As for the narrator, it listens as if they recorded each word individually and then spliced them all together, as if read by ai, which honestly fits with the writing style. I don’t know if that was intentional or not, but it fit the book, though I’d never want to listen to any other books like that.
