I really struggled to finish this book. I only made it through the beginning because of the curiosity about how the Mimic Venom system would work. Most of the plots aren’t very believable or aren’t engaging and I found myself drifting into daydreaming for a minute and having to either really focus or take a break and listen to music for a while.

I don’t think the MC has plot armor but the results feel more like plot armor and convenience rather then properly explaining or world building.

I like the results but don’t believe the cause over and over again.

I love the HWFWM series and this feels like AI forced to read the series was given the mimic/venom prompt and then poorly edited it without changing any of the lazy world building nuggets dropped out of nowhere.

Spoiler – The MC is betrayed by a rich brat and his team of spoiled babies. He then fuses with a mimic and proceeds to hunt, kill, eat & loot all 4 adventurers. Then the rich brats father hunts down the MC to kill him but for no believable reason spares him and then gives him a small fortune after taking away most of it in the first place. Then the elf slave is taken away and used as the most obvious and lazy plot device ever. Then the MC befriends a psycho noble kid that turns out to be the son of someone even stronger then the villain and suddenly the MC gets everything they want with their help.
