this book is about being on the receiving side of the juvenile, cartoonish violence and culture of degenerate video gamers. it touches on genocide, war, and human nature. it asks, what happens if we combine predatory capitalism, the military industrial complex, and pay-to-win video games?
so why didn’t I love it?
it’s a bit of a slog, and the thematic elements aren’t so compelling to make me overlook the overall weak character development. the audiobook performance was ok. I think that if I hadn’t read DCC, I would have stopped listening after a few hours.
