This compilation was a pleasant surprise. Magic blended with far-future, intergalactic settings in a way that, for me, was fresh and new. Beyond the premise of the setting itself, watching the individual kid characters development through similar but different experiences/interpretations of generational/specific trauma in a way that felt lived in and real was a genuine treat. As someone that snagged this title as a chance, I am glad I did and have already snagged the next compendium.
