This series is the weirdest thing, but it’s so wild and interesting that you can’t wait to hear what’s going on next! The Butcher’s Masquerade was an intense and devastating book compared to the others before it. After starting the 6th floor, the crawlers find out that they are going to be hunted by tourists outside of the game! Carl and Donut are trying to outsmart the hunters and take them down, protect their friends, and survive until the stairs open to the next floor. Our group also comes across new challenges in the form of a vampire virus infecting the lives of crawlers and animals on this floor, a Ballerina T-Rex, and a whole herd of bird like raptors who are the same species as Mongo (Donut’s pet and adopted son).
The emotional twists in this book were heartbreaking and at one point had me ugly crying 😭 If you would have told me I would be sobbing over a vampire and a goat, I probably would have called you crazy 🤣 The sex doll head that has the trapped spirit of a minor deity named Samantha had me cracking up so many times and has quickly become a favorite character of mine! My emotions were everywhere with this book 🤣
Once again, the narrator Jeff Hays did a phenomenal job with the audiobook! It amazes me how he has unique voices for all the different characters! I love this series so much! 😍
